It happens to most people who are go on diets.
1. They start the latest fad diet.
2. They starve themselves.
3. They lose some weight.
4. They stop the diet or get distracted.
5. The weight comes back and even more.
Why is it so?
Firstly, it is based on willpower not belief. Willpower only accounts for about 5% of change. The problem is that most people don't have the rigid discipline required to consciously focus on their diet 24/7. Secondly, you are working against the life force of nature.
That may sound a little grandiose and here is how I understand it to work. The physical act of starving yourself, as well as your mental approach that you are starving yourself sends an almighty powerful message to your unconscious mind (the world of your beliefs and emotions). And that message is - WARNING, A FAMINE is in progress.
The unconscious mind reacts by storing every gram of fat in places where you do not want it and on top of that, sucks every little bit of fat of the few things you have left to eat.
Then as soon as you lose focus, you go back to your old eating habits just like a stretched rubber band snaps back and bites you. So you go on a diet and off the diet and on the diet etc etc.
What are you supposed to do?
That is where the reprogramming the unconscious mind comes in. Changing you on the inside to change you on the outside. With the unconscious mind letting go of old beliefs and taking on new ones ...you will become thinner!

If you have had enough of looking in the mirror and not enjoying the reflection of an overweight body......if you don't like the feeling of wearing baggy clothes to cover yourself up......if you are thinking about Christmas and dreading the thought of eating your way through it....
Then it may be time to make a change for the better.
What if you could work on your weight while you sleep?
What if you enjoyed eating the right foods for you without having to think about it?
Imagine how much more you could be enjoying life!
What's the first step? It's said that if you want a better answer you have to ask a better question. Let me suggest that the question is not :How can I lose weight?" rather it is "How can I create my ideal body image?"
By changing the question we change the focus and be more likely to succeed in achieving what we want. We tend to get what we focus on. That's why I changed the question from WEIGHT and LOSS (both of which you do not want) to your ideal body image.
Speak the question out loud and notice the difference in how you perceive it.

That's an interesting question and one I hear repeated often. A number of people have asked me if it really works.
The short answer is ...... YES. - The longer answer is the "how" it works.
Over recent months quite a number of people, mainly women, have attended my
"Weight Reduction Hypnosis" workshops.
You may be asking "What happens in that workshop?"
Well, basically, I deal with the beliefs that they have about themselves, food and exercise. The major issues that are absolutely consistent are
1. emotional issues
Quite often, an emotional event in the past has triggered a protection mechanism and so a sort of physical shield - excess weight - is created.
Beliefs precede thoughts which precede words which precede actions. If there are negative beliefs floating around then they will show up in results - in this case.....fat.
Nearly every person coming to my workshops has a focus on getting rid of fat. SO, while they are focused on fat.....they get more of the same. This is because we tend to realise what we focus on.
You should see the reactions when I start working on these areas. Initially there is shock...and then acceptance that they can change when they work through these issues.
and ....the magic happens....here is the feedback from one woman who came to my workshop....speaks for itself......

Usually I'm the one hypnotising others...yet the other day a shop assistant used a language pattern that through me into a spin. Fortunately, she didn't realise what she had done and she didn't have the knowledge to utilise the state she had put me in.
It was such an unusual experience. I went into the shop, confident that I knew what I wanted to buy. A Mac Book Air. I'd been a PC user long enough and I was ready to change.
After sitting down, telling her what I wanted she came back with this statement "You know it doesn't have a disk drive, don't you?" It was unexpected. For whatever reason it threw me out of kilter in my pattern of thinking. She just created confusion within me. If it was me, I would have built on that. WHat would I have done? mmm
Knowing that I was there to buy..well, you could add to the shopping list....add to the trance state.....take them on a journey to find out more about them....you could just about take someone from that state to where ever you wanted to go.
It was a fun experience to look back upon in retrospect. And, it provided a great learning opportunity. Isn't it true that you learn more from experience than from reading about an experience?
Listen to the language patterns being used around you and see if you can observe their impact on other people. Then practice them, if you want to.

If you've watched The Matrix movies you've probably heard that phrase before. But have you ever wondered what that means and how it relates to you?
When we observe people and what they do, we see that they live their lives in accordance with the belief systems that they have installed. The beliefs act like a thermostat. When they get too hot (outperforming to their beliefs) or too cold (underperforming to their beliefs) then the thermostat kicks in and brings them back to normal (whatever they perceive normal to be).
Can you identify that this may also happen in your own life? Maybe you believe that maybe you don't.
Have you seen people who believed that they are lucky? They same to fall on their feet in every situation, they might "be lucky enough" to see a $100 note on the path as they are walking. That fits in with their belief system. The belief system then impacts on perceptual filters so that they are looking for opportunity/good luck.
In contrast, the unlucky person who believes they are unlucky have set up their perceptual filters to exclude all opportunity and good luck to the extent of this belief.

In my comedy hypnosis shows, the volunteers go through a number of situational changes in their beliefs. During the show their beliefs are suspended so that they can have other experiences - being a rick and roll star, a irish river dancer, forgetting their names, regression to an early age.
What would happen to your life if you could change your beliefs to those that support the life you would want to have?
Imagine the difference that would make? What would it be like?

Did you know that each of us is wired differently? That's why...if you are hypnotising someone....you need to be reading all the verbal and non verbal cues to check the wiring. It is calibrating how they work at different levels.
This was vividly demonstrated last Saturday at a private show. I was doing. During the suggestability tests at the beginning of the show one person in particular reacted differently. When doing the finger vice test, rather than her fingers come together they went away quite strongly and very clearly. And again with the brick and balloon test the hands went opposite to everyone else. That is , the hand that had the imaginary brick, or in this case a heavy book - The Bible - went up high and the hand tied to the balloons sunk down.
After the show we had a chat and she asked about her hands going in the opposite directions. I acknowledged that I had noticed that as I walked through the audience.. She then proceeded to share an early childhood story and some negative religious experiences,
Interesting that she then stated that she always does the opposite.
The point is that all our previous experiences have had an impact on how we perceive the world around us, our beliefs and our actions. At the shows I get to experience this ...and wow to I have to be on the ball to take in what's happening.
But then, thats a factor I love about the shows..every show is different because the volunteers are different.

Have you noticed what you have been thinking? At last night's hypnosis demonstration I was sharing on how our thought processes work. It was at a yoga school (QI YOGA Freshwater Beach, NSW).
In brief, that our ability to do something was simply whether or not we thought we can do it. Once we move past that point of thinking we can't do something and believe we can...then we seem to be able to do it.
Mark, the owner of the school was asking if hypnosis could be used to help students become better. I asked him "better at what ...specifically?" He explained that one of the challenges that his students and clients had was doing handstands..you know...the ones away from the wall.
He remembered at one stage he would do handstands against the wall ...believing that was all he could do. Yet, when he asked himself the question "What if I could do a handstand in the middle of the room? What if..."
As soon as he began to think differently....within a short time...he began to do those handstands.
The question that arises...now....is....what are you thinking?
Remember the old quote - "Whether you think you can or think you can;t....you are right"
This is where hypnosis and NLP can be of real assistance. A skilled practitioner can navigate you to a place where you can think you can.

Some people say that you will do anything in a trance …. and some say you will not do in trance what you would not do in your normal conscious state.
What's the reality? Trick question. We create our own reality. If you’re a fan of Derren Brown you may have seen him hypnotise a young man to be an assassin. Even though the young man would probably never assassinate anyone in his normal conscious state the suggestions were done in such a way that he was merely shooting a target …not a person.
in a recent hypnosis show I found that one volunteer would not participate in the routine that involved smoking a hypnotic joint. He refused it outright. Have a look here.
Watch from the 4min 42 second mark and you will see that Joe, on far right, will not accept the hypnotic joint. And thats OK.
The thing is, how can we reframe things in our own life so that we do the things that we should be doing?
