2015 is almost here. What are your dreams and resolutions for the coming year?
Will you try to quit smoking or maybe try to lose weight. These are two common New Year resolutions among many.
Others include not drinking as much, saving more, spending less, being a better person and.....the list goes on and on. In fact there are probably as many Mew Year resolutions as there are people.
Everyone has a different perspective on what that change means.
BUT, the big question is........
after making them how will you implement them in a way that makes them stick?
Here are 10 tips to help you turn those resolutions into the new you.
1. Know what you want.... specifically. A clearly defined goal makes it easier for your unconscious mind to look for ways to make it happen.
2. Write your New Year resolution down. Carry it with you, Read it often during the day. Ruminate on what it means for you.
3. Get intensely emotionally involved with your New Year resolution, Make it so compelling that it touches you deep inside to go forward with the change.
4. Make a list of ALL of the reasons how your change is going to improve your life. What are the rewards you experience as you go forward 1, 5, 10 and 20 years.
5. Make a list of ALL the consequences of not making this change in your life. What will happen to you over the next 1, 5, 10, 20 years as result of not taking action now.
6. Make a vision board. For visual people the process of making a vision board and having those pictures around you is a great support for youre unconscious mind.
7. Get a clear picture, a real sense of what you will be like after you have made the change you desire.
8. Visit your future self as described in Tip #7. Imagine stepping inside your future self "as if" you were trying on a new suit. Get a feel for what that is like.
9. Write a letter from your future self, say from 12 months ahead in December 2015. Things to include in the letter are a congratulations on making the change, maybe sharing how that change was made, how great it is to be living this new way as well as other encouragements.
10. See someone who knows how to get inside youre unconscious mind to tweak the programs you've already got running. Your current beliefs in the area you desire to change are the ones that are holding you back. When you see a skilled practitioner of change such as a hypnotherapist you will be better equipped to to create that change. Relying on will power only gets you so far. When your conscious mind is distracted you will fail. However, if the changes are made at the unconscious level where beliefs are situated then you will have a greater probability of making a successful change.
Did you know that January 4 is World Hypnotism Day. Its a day of dispelling the fears and myths around hypnosis and educating people about how hypnosis can help them access the power they have resident in their unconscious mind.
If ....you're ready to change .....then give me a call and I'll share the next steps for you.
Merry Christmas from the beautiful Gold Coast, Australia.

It happens at almost every show And in many one on one or group therapy sessions. Someone will come up and ask me "What if I can't be hypnotised?" or tell me"You can't hypnotise me!"
Both interesting questions and demonstrate that many people today are confused about what hypnosis is, and also , what it isn't"
Lets start with what hypnosis is.
It is a state of deep relaxation where the volunteer is so focused on the hypnotist's voice that they simply block everything else out. The critical conscious factor is bypassed and allows for the unconscious mind to accept suggestions.
While the volunteer appears to be asleep...they are only in a sleep like state and not sleep itself. Sort of like that zone between being awake and being asleep.
If you have a look at your activities each day...there are periods when you seem to operate on autopilot...from driving the car....to getting ready for the day....even to the work you do....
For example...have you ever driven to a location....got out of the car and say to yourself...how did I get here...you forgot the journey....because the unconscious mind took care of it.
The other statement - "You can't hypnotise me!", is usually a fear based statement. That is because the person making the statement is afraid that they will lose control of the mind and hand it to me, as the hypnotist. Simply not true. This is a joint venture. If you don't want to go on the journey then you won't....go on the journey.
Once there is understanding of the hypnotic state then the fear is removed and the volunteers can allow themselves to have fun and enjoy the experience.
And that is what its all about.
Have a sensational day, where ever you are.
PS I love to hear your feedback. Tell me what you want to hear more of.

Sometimes you can see great insights in simple things.
Take kid's movies for example. Like Kung Fu Panda.
Here is this panda, called Po, who works in a noodle shop.
All the time he is dreaming of being a kung fu master.
When he wakes from his dreams he is just a panda.
And yet, he still dreams of his goal in his waking moments.
An opportunity comes for him to train with the greats.
The turtle grand master decrees him to be the Dragon Warrior.
The trainer puts Po through his paces and discovers that Po is really
setting a new record low of achievement. Zero. Po becomes down on himself.
He is not like them. They do not make him welcome and he feels out of place.
Po goes to leave, he totally lacks any belief in himself. Yet the trainer
is given an insight about believing in Po and he will see Po become the Dragon Warrior.
If you haven't seen the movie - go and get it.
Events turn when Po realises the meaning of the Dragon scroll. Only the Dragon Warrior
is allowed to read it. When Po unrolls the scroll it is blank. He sees only his reflection.
What can this mean? The revelation is that there is no secret ingredient to being the master, or to success. The main ingredient is YOU.
Believing in yourself is the secret ingredient.
Many people find this the hardest thing to achieve. Yet, you can do it when you
have the right tools. And I'm blessed to be able to help people find that belief within
And in the end. Po has the final fight with his nemesis.....and because he believes in himself ....he wins.
We can all win when we believe we can.
Have an awesome day!

Some people say that you will do anything in a trance …. and some say you will not do in trance what you would not do in your normal conscious state.
What's the reality? Trick question. We create our own reality. If you’re a fan of Derren Brown you may have seen him hypnotise a young man to be an assassin. Even though the young man would probably never assassinate anyone in his normal conscious state the suggestions were done in such a way that he was merely shooting a target …not a person.
in a recent hypnosis show I found that one volunteer would not participate in the routine that involved smoking a hypnotic joint. He refused it outright. Have a look here.
Watch from the 4min 42 second mark and you will see that Joe, on far right, will not accept the hypnotic joint. And thats OK.
The thing is, how can we reframe things in our own life so that we do the things that we should be doing?
Well, you’ll have to give me a holler at [email protected] and we can chat and figure it out for you…in trance.
Have a great day,

Quite often I’m asked how does hypnosis work? How do I get inside other people’s minds?
Well the thing is, I don’t “get inside your mind”. What I do is open up a way for me to speak directly with….your unconscious….mind. So, don’t worry, I’m not going to go in and take control of your mind. I’m just going to speak directly to your unconscious mind to help you access more of your inner resources.
Regardless of the context, be it a show, workshop, therapy or even a covert hypnosis session, my intent is for you to benefit. And believe me, having a positive intent for you is a success a successful hypnotic experience.
Then your next question is how do I open the door to your subconscious mind? Simple, when you know how. The first port of call is gaining rapport. If you don’t have rapport then the journey won’t even start.
Next, we have to bypass your critical conscious factor. There are different contexts as mentioned above so let’s take my favourite, the rapid induction. You can follow this in more detail in my free e book “Street Hypnosis Downunder” which you can find on my website http://www.hypnosis-downunder.com.au
The principle that you will see demonstrated is a momentary diversion like the gentle finger tap on the back of the head followed by a command. In that moment or two after the tap that’s when the door to you unconscious mind is open just long enough to prompt it to respond. To my command.
after that, then we get into the hypnotic fun.
hope that was of interest and benefit to you in response to your requests for More information.

This is an interesting insight today. One of my teachers used to say to me - utilise the client's trance - be flexible. What he means is to start working with people where they are. When someone comes to see a hypnotist/NLPer for some tranceformation work or to see a show they bring with them not only their map of the world. They also bring with them whatever they are experiencing that day, that moment, when they step/sit in front of you.
Last Friday night's show at Ettalong Bowling Club was no exception. There was about 50 people in the room. Mixed ages. Maybe 1/3 above age 50. And being in a club environment, some people had already had a few drinks before they came in from other parts of the club. A typical club crowd.
When I do my preparations for a show, a workshop or therapy session I run through the event in my mind, I write the steps/processes/inductions, and in the case of a show, I also rehearse. Remember the 5Ps? Proper planning prevents poor performance. For this show I had done my preparation PLUS allowed for my inductions to be flexible. There are so many inductions to use and its easy to become comfortable with a few. Yet, having been caught by my own fixed approach in a previous show, I stepped up a bit in my preparation by allowing for flexibility.
And so, as it turned out, I was able to adapt to different volunteers. Some people responded to the suggestability tests quite well and the others I dismissed from the stage. Then, at the inductions, some responded well to instant inductions and then others responded well to an Elman type induction. Then the show went along at a great pace. With audience and volunteers having a great time.
The lesson? Be prepared, be flexible and adaptable, BE the hypnotist!
Hope that sharing my experience was helpful for you. Have a fantastic day, where ever you are, what ever time it is for you...as you read these words...sitting in your chair...you can be happy...knowing that your understanding of hypnosis grows.

What's a hypnotic gift? That's a question I'm often asked when I explain how I finish off one of my comedy hypnosis shows, street hypnosis demonstrations or "Power Of The Mind" presentations.
The key to every show, demonstration or talk is the volunteers that are participating. Without the volunteers there is no show. So, for me, it's important to express my appreciation for their trust and support. And that's a big thing for someone to come up out of the crowd, onto the stage and trust me as the hypnotists or speaker.
There is often a fear that people who volunteer will be made to cluck like a chicken or be made to do something that will humiliate them. Sadly, that's a hangover from an older vaudeville style of stage performer. In fact, when I introduce myself as a hypnotist people often hold up their hands and say things like "don't look into my eyes" or "don't make me cluck like a chicken".
Humiliation is not my style. For me, the goals for my shows are to entertain and amaze the audience, giving them a great comedy hypnosis show experience so that they leave the show in awe and wonder of the Power Of The Mind. My desired outcome for the volunteers is that they enjoy the experience of being in the show, they learn to relax, they become "unstuck" and they leave with that hypnotic gift.
So, what's the hypnotic gift? It is the ability to be able to "go inside", tap into the connection with their subconscious mind and find that one resource they desire. What resource is that? It may be greater confidence in an area of life that they have been looking for, better ability to focus and study, higher self esteem or one of any number of things we desire to get in touch with.
Once they locate that resource whilst in trance, I then create with them an "anchor". They are then given instructions to be able to trigger that anchor whenever they desire or need that resource.
When they leave my show, demonstration or speech they do so with a gift and a sense that they are better equipped for life than when they came in.
That's my hypnotic gift and the how & why I do it. I love to learn and grow and help others to the same.
Love and peace to you until next time.

If you've been reading my blogs you may have noticed that I do hypnosis shows as well as "change" or "transformation work". I've heard some people say that one takes away from the other BUT I find the opposite. That doing personal change work complements the show work. Makes for a more diverse and equipped professional.
In fact I did a show last night at The King St Brewhouse in Darling Harbour, Sydney. One of the questions I was asked a lot after the show last night was this - Why is it that some people seem to go into that hypnotic state called trance more easily than others?
How I respond to the question goes like this - I refer to a famous hypnotist from last century called Milton Erickson. He said that the more...you go into trance...the easier...you go into trance.
Much like going to the gym. The more you do it, the easier it is to do. Or anything that we do in life, isnt that true.
Much of this relates to our patterns of thinking. We repeat things often, they become a habit and we don't even think about it. Many people last night referred to stress in their lives. This can become a habit. What I suggest we do is to practice relaxation so that we can learn to relax more easily, stress less and enjoy life more.
So that you can start to practice this I'd love to share with you a recording that I made and use regularly to ...relax deeply.
My gift to you. All you have to do..is...do it!
Click on this link (or Cut and paste this link to your browser.) You may need to open a free DropBox account to access. It will be worth it.
If you like it let me know. And if..you want to...find a way to ...quit smoking,...lose weight ...remove a phobia..i can assist you or your friends with a suitable recording or treatment session to achieve your goals easily and effortlessly.
Learn to relax and...go into trance...Have a great weekend.

The world is exactly what we think it is ….and the way we think about it creates our world. If you’re familiar with the concept of manifesting or co-creation then you may resonate with what I’m about to share.
Depending upon what you believe…..you experience the world through your five senses according to your belief systems. Fascinating to observe when working with clients or with hypnosis show volunteers. For example, in a show I may tell volunteers to believe that the number two does not exist. With this new belief they create that reality – ie two does not exist. That continues with things like – being stuck to a chair, not remembering names, feeling different emotions.
Similarly, in a client situation, hypnosis and NLP can be used to change belief systems and hence the way that the client thinks. Think differently, act differently and get different results. Think of people becoming non smokers, losing weight, becoming more confident etc.
One process to used to do that is the “what if” or movie” technique. In this process the client is lead to create the ideal outcome in all its aspects – sight, sound, feelings, taste and smell. First with a picture, then enhancing each aspect, making the picture three D, turning it into a movie. After perfecting the movie the client is then asked to step into their character in the movie and live it as if it is their reality. This is repeated and “anchored” in so that they can access it any time. The client then manifests this new reality.
I did hear feedback that this is faking it. My answer to that is this – everyone one of us does this each day with our imagination. We imagine that something is going to happen – good or bad – when we feel it with great emotion we tend to move towards vreating that reality.
Now, where does Ruby Sparks fit in with all of this? The story goes along these lines. A young man writes out his one page story of a love affair with a beautiful young woman called Ruby. Absolutely fictitious. Then, she appears in his life, just as he wrote down. During the movie he learns that whatever he writes down and believes tends to occur. He wrote down that she spoke fluent French and hey presto – she speaks fluent french.
Do you feel a bit playful today? Think of something that you would love to have in your life. Create that movie “as if” it is your reality. Step into the movie and live it. Play that movie over and over again. Write down the story. Bring all the positive emotions into this that you can.
Just like putting the cake into the oven or planting seeds in the ground – when the appropriate baking time or growing time has occurred you will have your result.
Have a brilliant day wherever you are.

It's now February. One month of 2013 has slipped on by. For many, many people, their New Year resolutions have also slipped past. Did it happen to you?
What were your resolutions? Did you act on them? Or not?
Some of the issues with keeping the resolutions are lack of - motivation, clarity and action.
Motivation - If you're not creating this change for YOU (ie doing it for someone else) then you're less likely to succeed.
Clarity - no one will get to where they want to be or have want they want to have unless you are crystal clear on what you want to be, have or do.
Action - if your resolution is not backed up by a plan which is the implemented, well,...you were kidding yourself with the New Year Resolutions.
To help you get some more understanding on this and also for you to learn some NLP and hypnosis techniques to get back on track with your New Year resolutions i invite you to...join me on this webinar where I'll be sharing some very cool stuff with you.
That's all for today. Enjoy your weekend. And I look forward to sharing with you at the webinar. You can...register here now...click here
