What's a hypnotic gift?

Posted on March 1, 2013 at 6:00 PM Comments comments (15)
What's a hypnotic gift? That's a question I'm often asked when I explain how I finish off one of my comedy hypnosis shows, street hypnosis demonstrations or "Power Of The  Mind" presentations.
The key to every show, demonstration or talk is the volunteers that are participating. Without the volunteers there is no show. So, for me, it's important to express my appreciation for their trust and support. And that's a big thing for someone to come up out of the crowd, onto the stage and trust me as the hypnotists or speaker.
There is often a fear that people who volunteer will be made to cluck like a chicken or be made to do something that will humiliate them. Sadly, that's a hangover from an older vaudeville style of stage performer. In fact, when I introduce myself as a hypnotist people often hold up their hands and say things like "don't look into my eyes" or "don't make me cluck like a chicken".
Humiliation is not my style. For me, the goals for my shows are to entertain and amaze the audience, giving them a great comedy hypnosis show experience so that they leave the show in awe and wonder of the Power Of The Mind. My desired outcome for the volunteers is that they enjoy the experience of being in the show, they learn to relax, they become "unstuck" and they leave with that hypnotic gift.
So, what's the hypnotic gift? It is the ability to be able to "go inside", tap into the connection with their subconscious mind and find that one resource they desire. What resource is that? It may be greater confidence in an area of life that they have been looking for, better ability to focus and study, higher self esteem or one of any number of things we desire to get in touch with.
Once they locate that resource whilst in trance, I then create with them an "anchor". They are then given instructions to be able to trigger that anchor whenever they desire or need that resource.
When they leave my show, demonstration or speech they do so with a gift and a sense that they are better equipped for life than when they came in.
That's my hypnotic gift and the how & why I do it. I love to learn and grow and help others to the same.
Love and peace to you until next time.

To ..go into need to learn to ...go into trance....

Posted on February 21, 2013 at 9:52 PM Comments comments (84)
If you've been reading my blogs you may have noticed that I do hypnosis shows as well as "change" or "transformation work". I've heard some people say that one takes away from the other BUT I find the opposite. That doing personal change work complements the show work.  Makes for a more diverse and equipped professional.
In fact I did a show last night at The King St Brewhouse in Darling Harbour, Sydney. One of the questions I was asked a lot after the show last night was this - Why is it that some people seem to go into that hypnotic state called trance more easily than others?
How I respond to the question goes like this - I refer to a famous hypnotist from last century called Milton Erickson. He said that the go into trance...the go into trance.
Much like going to the gym. The more you do it, the easier it is to do. Or anything that we do in life, isnt that true.
Much of this relates to our patterns of thinking. We repeat things often, they become a habit and we don't even think about it. Many people last night referred to stress in their lives. This can become a habit. What I suggest we do is to practice relaxation so that we can learn to relax more easily, stress less and enjoy life more.
So that you can start to practice this I'd love to share with you a recording that I made and use regularly to ...relax deeply.
My gift to you. All you have to it!
Click on this link (or Cut and paste this link to your browser.) You may need to open a free DropBox account to access. It will be worth it.
If you like it let me know. And want to...find a way to ...quit smoking,...lose weight ...remove a phobia..i can assist you or your friends with a suitable recording or treatment session to achieve your goals easily and effortlessly.
Learn to relax and...go into trance...Have a great weekend.

Manifesting reality - see the movie Ruby Sparks

Posted on February 14, 2013 at 3:20 PM Comments comments (14)
The world is exactly what we think it is ….and the way we think about it creates our world. If you’re familiar with the concept of manifesting or co-creation then you may resonate with what I’m about to share.

Depending upon what you believe… experience the world through your five senses according to your belief systems. Fascinating to observe when working with clients or with hypnosis show volunteers. For example, in a show I may tell volunteers to believe that the number two does not exist. With this new belief they create that reality – ie two does not exist. That continues with things like – being stuck to a chair, not remembering names, feeling different emotions.

Similarly, in a client situation, hypnosis and NLP can be used to change belief systems and hence the way that the client thinks. Think differently, act differently and get different results. Think of people becoming non smokers, losing weight, becoming more confident etc.

One process to used to do that is the “what if” or movie” technique. In this process the client is lead to create the ideal outcome in all its aspects – sight, sound, feelings, taste and smell. First with a picture, then enhancing each aspect, making the picture three D, turning it into a movie. After perfecting the movie the client is then asked to step into their character in the movie and live it as if it is their reality. This is repeated and “anchored” in so that they can access it any time. The client then manifests this new reality.

I did hear feedback that this is faking it. My answer to that is this – everyone one of us does this each day with our imagination. We imagine that something is going to happen – good or bad – when we feel it with great emotion we tend to move towards vreating that reality.

Now, where does Ruby Sparks fit in with all of this? The story goes along these lines. A young man writes out his one page story of a love affair with a beautiful young woman called Ruby. Absolutely fictitious. Then, she appears in his life, just as he wrote down. During the movie he learns that whatever he writes down and believes tends to occur. He wrote down that she spoke fluent French and hey presto – she speaks fluent french.

Do you feel a bit playful today? Think of something that you would love to have in your life. Create that movie “as if” it is your reality. Step into the movie and live it. Play that movie over and over again. Write down the story. Bring all the positive emotions into this that you can.

Just like putting the cake into the oven or planting seeds in the ground – when the appropriate baking time or growing time has occurred you will have your result.

Have a brilliant day wherever you are.

What happened to your 2013 New Year Resolutions?

Posted on February 3, 2013 at 12:12 AM Comments comments (13)
It's now February. One month of 2013 has slipped on by. For many, many people, their New Year resolutions have also slipped past. Did it happen to you?

What were your resolutions? Did you act on them? Or not?

Some of the issues with keeping the resolutions are lack of - motivation, clarity and action.

Motivation - If you're not creating this change for YOU (ie doing it for someone else) then you're less likely to succeed.

Clarity - no one will get to where they want to be or have want they want to have unless you are crystal clear on what you want to be, have or do.

Action - if your resolution is not backed up by a plan which is the implemented, well, were kidding yourself with the New Year Resolutions.

To help you get some more understanding on this and also for you to learn some NLP and hypnosis techniques to get back on track with your New Year resolutions i invite you to...join me on this webinar where I'll be sharing some very cool stuff with you.

That's all for today. Enjoy your weekend. And I look forward to sharing with you at the webinar. You can...register here here

Why not have a hypnosis party?

Posted on November 25, 2012 at 2:01 AM Comments comments (35)
Last night we went to a 70s party. Dress up in 70s fashion , listen to 70's music and dance 70's dances. It was a lot of fun.
And as you do when at parties, someone asked me what do I do? Just the opportunity I needed. My reply - I give people fun, laughter and a great night out at my comedy hypnosis shows"
Well that created a few questions and before you know it I was performing some impromptu demonstrations. From basic suggestability tests through to amnesia for identity and then amnesia for all the people they know at the party. Of course I brought all that back to them before I left.
It was interesting to watch the 5 or 6 people around the table participating with me. Even more interesting was that 20 to 30 people gathered around to watch. So many questions. It was a great opportunity to increase hypnotic awareness.
The night was filled with hypnotic fun and laughter.

Have a wonderfully hypnotic week and practise hypnosis every day.

To your hypnotic success

17 Day Hypnosis Challenge

Posted on November 12, 2012 at 4:17 AM Comments comments (24)
Do you ever get to thinking that you need to spur yourself on somehow? That you need to give yourself a kick along to propel yourself towards your goals.
That’s how I was feeling on Sunday 11th. Remembrance Day. Remember to believe in yourself.
With the next hypnosis show at The BrewHouse coming up on November 29th I thought I’d do some hypnotic warming up. Just like when you warm up or practice for a footy match so that you are on top of your game when you play the game.
With today being the 12th November that means there are 17 days until the show.
So the question I asked myself was “How can I prepare best for the show so that I give my audience a great hypnosis show experience?” As I pondered the question, the answer came to me immediately like the proverbial bolt of lightening from the blue. Why not challenge yourself to do a public hypnosis demonstration every day from the 12th November to 29th November. Do something different, something better each day. With this in mind I committed to carrying out this task – I christened it “The 17 Day Hypnosis Challenge”.
Today’s I started with some simple demonstrations of suggestability testing and a Butterfly Induction.  You can see this on You Tube at
What surprises me is the reticence of Aussies with regard to hypnosis and their misperception that somehow the hypnotist will take control of their mind. Not true. YOU are always in control of your own mind. My role is simply to be a navigator. In this case navigating you to fun and relaxed experiences.
The one other fear that came up as I was talking to people today was that they would somehow be forced to do embarrassing things – like the chicken thing. Again, NOT TRUE. When I do a hypnosis show it is important to look after my volunteers. You are helping me and the rest of the audience to have a great time so its important to look after you. That means – no embarrassing routines, no demeaning of the volunteers and no adult routines.
You’ll get more information and updates as I progress with my public hypnosis demonstrations over the remaining 16 days.
Enjoy your day

What do Aussies think of hypnosis shows?

Posted on November 6, 2012 at 2:52 PM Comments comments (18)
Hope you had a great week. If you’re in Australia – did you back a winner in the Melbourne Cup or maybe scoop the pools in the $100m OzLotto draw?
It’s interesting to observe what Aussies do for fun and entertainment. Whether it be partying, celebrating great events, performing at sport or whatever. And of course, if you’ve been reading my blogs you know that I believe that whatever we do, we do what fits into our belief systems. Like the bit in the horses mouth, our beliefs guide and direct our actions.
This brings me to my next thought about what Aussies think of hypnosis shows. Last weekend I was doing some hypnosis demonstrations at The Brewhouse in Darling Harbour. This is part of promotional activity for my show there on Thursday 29th November. As I walked amongst the various tables I was met with a number of varying responses.
The first table I walked up to were sort of shocked – well, understandably. How often do people just pop into a group conversation. I do it nicely though After gaining my rapport with the group and having the three women all tell me that they didn’t know much about it. Two of the three complied with the suggestability tests and one of those became a great hypnotic volunteer. She went into trance quickly, easily and deeply. Straight to arm catalepsy (thats where you get the arm stiff and straight). I left the arm in that position with the suggestion it will stay pointed up to the sky while I brought her up.
To her friends amusement she looked up at me and started talking while leaving the arm right up there. Her friends thought this was a great joke. Time up – I let her have her arm back and moved on to the next table.
The next two tables were also interesting but no responsiveness. Three guys having lunch so not really appropriate timing. Then a table of four young women. They didn;t believe in hypnosis. Yet they are in and out of trance all the time, they just weren’t aware of it.
Loved having fun with the demo anyway. Just like I’ll be having fun with those of you who come to the “Hypnosis Downunder” comedy hypnosis show on Thursday 29th November 2012 8pm doors open. First drink on me!
Have a great week,
