New Year...New Mind...New YOU! 10 Tips to make New Year resolutions real.
Posted on December 16, 2014 at 3:01 AM |
![]() |
2015 is almost here. What are your dreams and resolutions for the coming year? Will you try to quit smoking or maybe try to lose weight. These are two common New Year resolutions among many. Others include not drinking as much, saving more, spending less, being a better person and.....the list goes on and on. In fact there are probably as many Mew Year resolutions as there are people. Everyone has a different perspective on what that change means. BUT, the big question is........ after making them how will you implement them in a way that makes them stick? Here are 10 tips to help you turn those resolutions into the new you. 1. Know what you want.... specifically. A clearly defined goal makes it easier for your unconscious mind to look for ways to make it happen. 2. Write your New Year resolution down. Carry it with you, Read it often during the day. Ruminate on what it means for you. 3. Get intensely emotionally involved with your New Year resolution, Make it so compelling that it touches you deep inside to go forward with the change. 4. Make a list of ALL of the reasons how your change is going to improve your life. What are the rewards you experience as you go forward 1, 5, 10 and 20 years. 5. Make a list of ALL the consequences of not making this change in your life. What will happen to you over the next 1, 5, 10, 20 years as result of not taking action now. 6. Make a vision board. For visual people the process of making a vision board and having those pictures around you is a great support for youre unconscious mind. 7. Get a clear picture, a real sense of what you will be like after you have made the change you desire. 8. Visit your future self as described in Tip #7. Imagine stepping inside your future self "as if" you were trying on a new suit. Get a feel for what that is like. 9. Write a letter from your future self, say from 12 months ahead in December 2015. Things to include in the letter are a congratulations on making the change, maybe sharing how that change was made, how great it is to be living this new way as well as other encouragements. 10. See someone who knows how to get inside youre unconscious mind to tweak the programs you've already got running. Your current beliefs in the area you desire to change are the ones that are holding you back. When you see a skilled practitioner of change such as a hypnotherapist you will be better equipped to to create that change. Relying on will power only gets you so far. When your conscious mind is distracted you will fail. However, if the changes are made at the unconscious level where beliefs are situated then you will have a greater probability of making a successful change. Did you know that January 4 is World Hypnotism Day. Its a day of dispelling the fears and myths around hypnosis and educating people about how hypnosis can help them access the power they have resident in their unconscious mind. If ....you're ready to change .....then give me a call and I'll share the next steps for you. Merry Christmas from the beautiful Gold Coast, Australia. Wayne Donnelly M +61 416 929 636 |
Can hypnosis relieve pain?
Posted on June 4, 2014 at 10:10 PM |

Pain....it can be a terrible thing. It might be that you have had an accident or illness as the cause and you are stuck on pain killers. OR, as in the video link attached, you could have decided to have a body piercing and didn't want to feel the pain. What makes the difference between feeling pain and not feeling pain? That's an interesting question, isn't it? And the answer is.... Well, we experience life through the filter of our beliefs. We represent to ourselves what the world means ...both inner and outer. If we believe that something is true for us then it is true in what we experience. In the demonstration you will see on the link what I've done is suggested anesthesia to the volunteer and he believes that his forearm and then his nipple area are completely anesthetised while he gets his nipple pierced. Not once....but twice. His mind, at an unconscious level, was able to change the meaning of his physical experience. The best thing is to watch for yourself and see his reaction. I'd love to hear your feedback. Feel free to email me [email protected] |
"What if I can't be hypnotised?"
Posted on February 7, 2014 at 9:46 PM |
![]() |
It happens at almost every show And in many one on one or group therapy sessions. Someone will come up and ask me "What if I can't be hypnotised?" or tell me"You can't hypnotise me!" Both interesting questions and demonstrate that many people today are confused about what hypnosis is, and also , what it isn't" Lets start with what hypnosis is. It is a state of deep relaxation where the volunteer is so focused on the hypnotist's voice that they simply block everything else out. The critical conscious factor is bypassed and allows for the unconscious mind to accept suggestions. While the volunteer appears to be asleep...they are only in a sleep like state and not sleep itself. Sort of like that zone between being awake and being asleep. If you have a look at your activities each day...there are periods when you seem to operate on autopilot...from driving the car....to getting ready for the day....even to the work you do.... For example...have you ever driven to a location....got out of the car and say to yourself...how did I get here...you forgot the journey....because the unconscious mind took care of it. The other statement - "You can't hypnotise me!", is usually a fear based statement. That is because the person making the statement is afraid that they will lose control of the mind and hand it to me, as the hypnotist. Simply not true. This is a joint venture. If you don't want to go on the journey then you won't....go on the journey. Once there is understanding of the hypnotic state then the fear is removed and the volunteers can allow themselves to have fun and enjoy the experience. And that is what its all about. Have a sensational day, where ever you are. Wayne :) PS I love to hear your feedback. Tell me what you want to hear more of. |

Your Reality is a construct

If you've watched The Matrix movies you've probably heard that phrase before. But have you ever wondered what that means and how it relates to you? When we observe people and what they do, we see that they live their lives in accordance with the belief systems that they have installed. The beliefs act like a thermostat. When they get too hot (outperforming to their beliefs) or too cold (underperforming to their beliefs) then the thermostat kicks in and brings them back to normal (whatever they perceive normal to be). Can you identify that this may also happen in your own life? Maybe you believe that maybe you don't. Have you seen people who believed that they are lucky? They same to fall on their feet in every situation, they might "be lucky enough" to see a $100 note on the path as they are walking. That fits in with their belief system. The belief system then impacts on perceptual filters so that they are looking for opportunity/good luck. In contrast, the unlucky person who believes they are unlucky have set up their perceptual filters to exclude all opportunity and good luck to the extent of this belief. Still not sure? In my comedy hypnosis shows, the volunteers go through a number of situational changes in their beliefs. During the show their beliefs are suspended so that they can have other experiences - being a rick and roll star, a irish river dancer, forgetting their names, regression to an early age. What would happen to your life if you could change your beliefs to those that support the life you would want to have? Imagine the difference that would make? What would it be like? Have a great day. Feel free to ask me questions. Wayne |
You are wired differently!
Posted on June 14, 2013 at 4:23 AM |

Did you know that each of us is wired differently? That's why...if you are hypnotising someone....you need to be reading all the verbal and non verbal cues to check the wiring. It is calibrating how they work at different levels. This was vividly demonstrated last Saturday at a private show. I was doing. During the suggestability tests at the beginning of the show one person in particular reacted differently. When doing the finger vice test, rather than her fingers come together they went away quite strongly and very clearly. And again with the brick and balloon test the hands went opposite to everyone else. That is , the hand that had the imaginary brick, or in this case a heavy book - The Bible - went up high and the hand tied to the balloons sunk down. After the show we had a chat and she asked about her hands going in the opposite directions. I acknowledged that I had noticed that as I walked through the audience.. She then proceeded to share an early childhood story and some negative religious experiences, Interesting that she then stated that she always does the opposite. The point is that all our previous experiences have had an impact on how we perceive the world around us, our beliefs and our actions. At the shows I get to experience this ...and wow to I have to be on the ball to take in what's happening. But then, thats a factor I love about the shows..every show is different because the volunteers are different. See you at the next show and I'll be checking your wiring. Have a great weekend. What will you do, or not, in a hypnotic trance?
Posted on April 22, 2013 at 4:40 AM |
![]() |
Some people say that you will do anything in a trance …. and some say
you will not do in trance what you would not do in your normal
conscious state. What's the reality? Trick question. We create our own reality. If
you’re a fan of Derren Brown you may have seen him hypnotise a young man
to be an assassin. Even though the young man would probably never
assassinate anyone in his normal conscious state the suggestions were
done in such a way that he was merely shooting a target …not a person. in a recent hypnosis show I found that one volunteer would not
participate in the routine that involved smoking a hypnotic joint. He
refused it outright. Have a look here. Watch from the 4min 42 second mark and you will see that Joe, on far right, will not accept the hypnotic joint. And thats OK. Interesting…isn’t it. The thing is, how can we reframe things in our own life so that we do the things that we should be doing? Well, you’ll have to give me a holler at [email protected] and we can chat and figure it out for you…in trance. Have a great day, Wayne 0416 929 636 |
Opening the door to.... your unconscious mind....
Posted on April 11, 2013 at 8:34 AM |

Quite often I’m asked how does hypnosis work? How do I get inside other people’s minds? Well the thing is, I don’t “get inside your mind”. What I do is open
up a way for me to speak directly with….your unconscious….mind. So,
don’t worry, I’m not going to go in and take control of your mind. I’m
just going to speak directly to your unconscious mind to help you access
more of your inner resources. Regardless of the context, be it a show, workshop, therapy or even a
covert hypnosis session, my intent is for you to benefit. And believe
me, having a positive intent for you is a success a successful hypnotic
experience. Then your next question is how do I open the door to your
subconscious mind? Simple, when you know how. The first port of call is
gaining rapport. If you don’t have rapport then the journey won’t even
start. Next, we have to bypass your critical conscious factor. There are
different contexts as mentioned above so let’s take my favourite, the
rapid induction. You can follow this in more detail in my free e book
“Street Hypnosis Downunder” which you can find on my website http://www.hypnosis-downunder.com.au The principle that you will see demonstrated is a momentary diversion
like the gentle finger tap on the back of the head followed by a
command. In that moment or two after the tap that’s when the door to you
unconscious mind is open just long enough to prompt it to respond. To
my command. after that, then we get into the hypnotic fun. hope that was of interest and benefit to you in response to your requests for More information. Feel free to contact me on Skype Wayne.donnelly or call me in Australia on 0416 929 636 have a sensational day wayne |
Are you rigid or flexible?
Posted on March 14, 2013 at 2:59 AM |
![]() |
Hi folks,
This is an interesting insight today. One of my
teachers used to say to me - utilise the client's trance - be flexible.
What he means is to start working with people where they are. When
someone comes to see a hypnotist/NLPer for some tranceformation work or
to see a show they bring with them not only their map of the world. They
also bring with them whatever they are experiencing that day, that
moment, when they step/sit in front of you. Last Friday night's
show at Ettalong Bowling Club was no exception. There was about 50
people in the room. Mixed ages. Maybe 1/3 above age 50. And being in a
club environment, some people had already had a few drinks before they
came in from other parts of the club. A typical club crowd. When I
do my preparations for a show, a workshop or therapy session I run
through the event in my mind, I write the steps/processes/inductions,
and in the case of a show, I also rehearse. Remember the 5Ps? Proper
planning prevents poor performance. For this show I had done my
preparation PLUS allowed for my inductions to be flexible. There are so
many inductions to use and its easy to become comfortable with a few.
Yet, having been caught by my own fixed approach in a previous show, I
stepped up a bit in my preparation by allowing for flexibility. And
so, as it turned out, I was able to adapt to different volunteers. Some
people responded to the suggestability tests quite well and the others I
dismissed from the stage. Then, at the inductions, some responded well
to instant inductions and then others responded well to an Elman type
induction. Then the show went along at a great pace. With audience and
volunteers having a great time. The lesson? Be prepared, be flexible and adaptable, BE the hypnotist! Hope
that sharing my experience was helpful for you. Have a fantastic day,
where ever you are, what ever time it is for you...as you read these
words...sitting in your chair...you can be happy...knowing that your
understanding of hypnosis grows. Take care, Wayne :) |
What's a hypnotic gift?
Posted on March 1, 2013 at 6:00 PM |
![]() |
What's a hypnotic gift? That's a question I'm often asked when I
explain how I finish off one of my comedy hypnosis shows, street
hypnosis demonstrations or "Power Of The Mind" presentations. The
key to every show, demonstration or talk is the volunteers that are
participating. Without the volunteers there is no show. So, for me, it's
important to express my appreciation for their trust and support. And
that's a big thing for someone to come up out of the crowd, onto the
stage and trust me as the hypnotists or speaker. There
is often a fear that people who volunteer will be made to cluck like a
chicken or be made to do something that will humiliate them. Sadly,
that's a hangover from an older vaudeville style of stage performer. In
fact, when I introduce myself as a hypnotist people often hold up their
hands and say things like "don't look into my eyes" or "don't make me
cluck like a chicken". Humiliation is not
my style. For me, the goals for my shows are to entertain and amaze the
audience, giving them a great comedy hypnosis show experience so that
they leave the show in awe and wonder of the Power Of The Mind. My
desired outcome for the volunteers is that they enjoy the experience of
being in the show, they learn to relax, they become "unstuck" and they
leave with that hypnotic gift. So, what's
the hypnotic gift? It is the ability to be able to "go inside", tap into
the connection with their subconscious mind and find that one resource
they desire. What resource is that? It may be greater confidence in an
area of life that they have been looking for, better ability to focus
and study, higher self esteem or one of any number of things we desire
to get in touch with. Once they locate that
resource whilst in trance, I then create with them an "anchor". They
are then given instructions to be able to trigger that anchor whenever
they desire or need that resource. When
they leave my show, demonstration or speech they do so with a gift and a
sense that they are better equipped for life than when they came in. That's my hypnotic gift and the how & why I do it. I love to learn and grow and help others to the same. Love and peace to you until next time. Wayne :) feel free to connect with me on Facebook www.facebook.com/hypnosisinaustralia or email me at [email protected] |
